We as MXGM condemn and charge all forms of genocide. Overturning Roe vs. Wade is that deadly. Simple and plain. Restriction of access, leaving access to be determined by repressive State level institutions will not create but continue the genocidal conditions of those people wanting to exercise their reproductive and human rights.
The road to this decision did not begin or end on June 24th with the decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade, it had a stop in Florida on February 17, 2022, a Florida committee advanced a bill referred to as “Don’t Say Gay” (CS/CS/HB 1557: Parental Rights in Education). This would prohibit discussion of gender and sexuality in the classroom among other issues. More than a dozen states also introduced this bill. Another stop in Texas with anti-trans legislation was the addendum set forth to oppress people with marginalized genders and sexualities. It is critical to acknowledge that these are attacks against children, which also trickle down to adult populations. If this legislation were to pass, children would be barred from receiving trans-affirming healthcare, and subsequently, these forms of care would be punishable by law in certain states and their parents could be criminalized as well.
As of June 24th, Roe v. Wade and Casey v. Planned Parenthood were overturned. We can recognize the egregious history of the nation-state’s eugenic attack against the bodies of Black people regarded as “female” and “male” while simultaneously recognizing the continued resistance and current efforts of Black reproductive organizers who advocate for Black sexual and reproductive health.
Concerning the question of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the international
significance of that war, we believe that US imperialism (and neo-liberal capitalism) is the primary enemy of people globally. The USA/NATO threat to the freedom seeking nations of the world is evident in it’s ongoing blockade against Cuba, it’s embargo against Venezuela and the overthrow of revolutionary governments of Chile, Granada and Haiti in the past. We call for an immediate abolition of NATO and it’s military forces.
